Eudora Stat Server is a combination of a Carbon application that gathers data from a Eudora installation on Mac OS X and a set of Perl scripts running under Apache on Mac OS X, all coupled via a few Web pages. Basically, we're turning email into a competitive sport.
To use, install the Perl scripts in your /Library/WebServer/CGI-Executables folder, put form.htm into your /Library/WebServer/Documents folder, turn on Web Sharing (Apache), connect to the form.htm page, run the Eudora Stat Grabber application, and copy the numbers into the form. Click submit, and you'll be added to the list.
The perl scripts depend on the DBD::CSV library that you can install from www.cpan.org. They also depend on the CGI.pm library that comes with perl distributions. If you really want to learn this get Teach Yourself Perl in 21 days by Laura Lemay and CGI Programming with Perl
Future plans include doing Eudora Stat Grabber as a Eudora plug-in, replacing your records in the server data file, sorting the results, and running the silly thing up on the Internet for anyone to use. Want to put money on it happening?
If it does, Leonard and Adam will take on all comers...
